Every morning when I enter our building, I always get a fresh jolt of enthusiasm from the explosion of color in both the art gallery and the knit shop. I just love color! With that being said, the color forecast for this fall and winter should be much more cheery than usual. Instead of the black and grey that have become the norm, the colors for fall/winter 2016 are muted tones of blue, lilac, taupe, red, yellow, and green. TNNA, our knitterly trade show, is only three weeks away, and with all the yarn the sales reps have been showing (in such glorious colors!), I can’t wait to go and see what’s available. I hope you are checking our Facebook page regularly for inspiration. Not only do we have some amazing completed projects posted there, but we’ll soon have lots of new-yarn announcements. We’ve already ordered a couple of new lines, and we know that you--our knitters--won’t be disappointed! It’s all in a day’s work here at Personal Threads Boutique, where we always strive to offer the very best yarns to our customers.

I wish I was a better blogger--I want to be, I try to be, but I’m just not. Please don’t misunderstand my silence to mean that there isn’t anything going here at Personal Threads. Quite the opposite, in fact! It seems like something new and different happens every day, on top of our regular store activities. With the addition of Emma, we now have five ladies to assist our knitters with their projects. As everyone knows, they are a remarkably talented and personable group.
We currently have 17 two-hour instructional knitting sessions per week, and numerous individual help classes as well. When you consider that we also offer beginning knitting and crocheting series and seasonal project classes, you begin to comprehend how this sort of schedule can at times tax the limits of the shop. We would like to do more, but right now there just isn’t any available time. (The young ladies do like to spend some time with their families.)
I’m currently looking forward to the autumn yarns that will soon be unveiled by visiting yarn reps and at TNNA market. It seems to come around so quickly, especially since some of our spring and summer yarns have just hit our shelves fairly recently. I’ve been given strict shopping instructions from all the PTB gals on what to look for and what to buy. (They have definite likes and dislikes when it comes to yarn!) The suggestions are always appreciated, as our goal is—and always has been—to offer the very best to our knitters.

How do we know? Once again the sales reps are making appointments and showing up with their "Spring/Summer" yarn offerings. Meanwhile, we at Personal Threads are in the middle of our current project classes. Meredith's "Building Blocks Blanket" has had tremendous interest. It's a fun and lovely project. Also, her "Beginning Knitting"continues to be a hit, as is her "Yipes Stripes" color-work cowl. Amanda has the "Modern Granny Square Afghan" class in progress. Her efforts to promote and expand interest in crochet are showing great results and is improving an area of the needle-arts in which I feel we have been a little lacking. Rounding out our classes for the remainder of the year are Hayley's "Felted Clogs," her "Continental Knitting," and "Stranded Knitting 201" sessions. Summer completes the list with another of her favorite series, this one being "The Noro Blanket." We will finish these before the end of the year.
Even this week we have received new yarns into the store. Wonderland Yarns Mad Hatter is a yarn we have admired for awhile and are now pleased to offer. Noro's Kureyon Air is another, as is the Freia Fine Handpaints. We have introduced Bonnie Bishoff Shawl Pins, along with Coco Knits Knitter's Keeps and accessories. The Knitter's Keeps sold out immediately and have been reordered.
We always try to keep Personal Threads stocked with the latest and greatest, so check our Ravelry and Facebook pages to see what's new. We've been told they are both outstanding postings. Happy Knitting!

Have you been checking our Facebook page lately to see all the new yarns that we’ve received during the past two months? Just this week we received some more Malabrigo and Jade Sapphire! Sock and shawl knitters should be super-excited with all of our beautiful new sock yarns. Regia Pairfect will allow you to knit two identical socks from one ball. If you haven’t seen our new Freia Ombre yarn, you really must. Summer, Meredith, and Hayley were insistent on getting it in the store, and I really agree that it’s a terrific yarn! We’ve also asked Koigu Wool to put together a Personal Threads exclusive colorway (only a few stores qualify); we should see ours sometime soon. We can’t wait to see how gorgeous it is!
Personal Threads has added a new employee--Emma! Great knitter, great personality. Make sure to introduce yourself the next time you’re in the shop!
This fall we’ll be re-offering Beginning Knitting with Meredith and Beginning Crochet with Amanda. Also, Mary K. is having a needlepoint workshop each Wednesday afternoon. Call the shop for more info on any of these lessons.
The rest of our upcoming fall classes will be announced soon. The PTB ladies have put their heads together and come up with a wide range of interesting classes. They are putting the finishing touches on them now. There will be something for everyone, from beginner to expert! Watch your e-mail for their announcement.

The new fall yarns have been continuing to arrive in droves since TNNA, and nothing received has disappointed us. We have ordered some great yarns!
We continue to stock the very best from Madelinetosh. Along with ASAP, Dandelion, Home, Pashmina, Tosh DK, and Tosh Merino Light, we've recently added Tosh Sock, Tosh Vintage, and Twist Light (a nylon blend for socks!) to our lineup. They just seem to go out the door as fast as we get them in!
We've also received a lot of new Koigu colors recently. If you've never had the chance to see our Koigu wall, we have over 400 Koigu selections to choose from. Everyone is ooh-ing and aah-ing over the new colors! Koigu is something special, indeed.
Malabrigo has been restocked, and our plan to have plenty on hand for fall is taking a hit; knitters are buying it daily. We're going to have to reorder sooner than we planned!
Our fall Rowan order is set to arrive soon--stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates. We're expecting color additions to some of our existing Rowan yarns, as well as some brand-new yarns to grace our shelves. We value our "AT" store status with Rowan; it's another reason we are Omaha's premier yarn shop.
We will continue to post new arrivals and inspiring projects on our Facebook page. If you're not already following us, what are you waiting for?
We could go on and on about all our wonderful yarn lines--Noro, Classic Elite, Sirdar, Dream in Color, Millamia, Plymouth, Juniper Moon Farm, Debbie Bliss, just to name a few--but you'll have to stop in and explore them for yourself. We carry these and other great brands so that we can truly deserve to be "Your Personal Yarn Store." As always, our staff will continue to make you their first priority.

Every week we are receiving new yarns: Rowan, Koigu, Malabrigo, Mountain Colors, Noro, and many more (simply the best brands, of course!). The spring TNNA market is always anxiously anticipated, and this year was no exception. Searching for new products and services is both exciting and stressful. We have to say, we're rather proud of the things we found this year.
Our current set of classes includes Beginning Knitting, Fix-It 101, the Building Blocks afghan, and Crochet for Knitters. This year we're putting an emphasis on working with color combinations. We have Omaha's finest inventory, so we always have many yarn choices for our knitters' projects. Check out our Facebook page to stay abreast of the latest arrivals and be inspired by our customer show-and-tell posts.
Last but not least, plans are in the works for this year's No Knots Knitters Retreat, at the scenic Lied Lodge in Nebraska City. The retreat will be held on October 10th & 11th. If you're interested in a knitting-packed weekend amidst beautiful foliage and fun knitters, please contact us for more information. Thanks always to our Personal Threads knitters for making us Omaha's Finest Yarn Shop.

I love spring! When we receive new yarns into the store, it seems like Personal Threads is always copying Nature’s explosions of color. The new Madelinetosh, Tosh Sock, rivals the fresh spring blooms that are popping up daily, and it’s being picked over very quickly. More has been ordered, along with another new yarn from Madelinetosh (stay tuned for more info!). Rowan yarns continue to be in demand. Cotton Lustre is set to make a big splash alongside well-loved summer classics such as Handknit Cotton, All Seasons Cotton, and Cotton Glace. Meanwhile, the folks at Classic Elite have added Santorini to complement their Sanibel line. Sanibel is a tonal blend of viscose and cotton, and Santorini is a gorgeous, variegated version of the same base.
Classes are going extremely well. The Personal Threads ladies (Amanda, Hayley, Meredith, and Summer) are all recognized as being extremely knowledgeable and talented, and they do a wonderful job of conducting our classes. As always, we strive to offer classes with an eye toward expanding our knitters’ skills. We’re very much looking forward to upcoming visits from our yarn reps, and going to TNNA in May. We will continue to offer only the very best and newest yarns, and earn our title of “Your Personal Yarn Store.”

New Madelinetosh – we’ve added Vintage to our existing lineup (a delightfully springy, superwash wool). We also received new colors of old favorites – Home, Dandelion, Tosh Merino Light and Pashmina. New Berroco – Mixer and Espresso (fun new warm weather yarns!) More colors of Cascade 220 Superwash. New Koigu Sparkle. Noro’s brand-new Kureopatora is a worsted weight yarn with a thick & thin construction that will add a bit of rustic texture to your projects. Its gorgeous colors and wonderful versatility make it a great addition to our Noro family. It’s hard to list all the new things we’ve got coming in, so don’t forget to visit our Facebook page for the very latest yarns and projects at PTB!
Our “Customer Appreciation Sale” was a great success – it’s so enjoyable to give back to customers who support us! Our Personal Threads employees had fun but were very tired by the end.
Previously, I wrote that Personal Threads was selected by Vogue Knitting as their “Inspirational Yarn Shop” in the Holiday Edition. In addition, we were selected as “Best of Omaha” in our category for the year! As “Your Personal Yarn Store,” we will continue to give you the best of service and selection just as we’ve done for the past 22+ years. We thank you for your support, and we will do our best to live up to our name.

What is the first sign of Fall? Yarn company reps making appointments to show their Spring/Summer offerings.
Personal Threads has been a very active place this fall. In spite of all the roadwork outside our doors, we've managed to stay very busy. Customers shopping for yarn, classes during the day and some evenings, have kept the PTB staff moving. Busy is a good thing and we owe it to you, our friends and patrons, in making us Omaha’s finest yarn shop. And speaking about Omaha’s finest yarn shop, we received two big accolades. One we can’t reveal just yet. The second is a national recognition. Vogue Knitting selected us as their “Inspirational Yarn Shop” for their Holiday Edition. Considering the total number of shops in the country, this is a huge honor. Again, Thank You for making us the store that we are! One last thing – Everyone checks our Facebook page to see which new yarns are coming into the shop. I would like to special mention a new yarn, Woolfolk. The brand currently consists of only two yarns – a fingering and a worsted weight. Knitters Review gave the yarn an extremely glowing report. Personal Threads is one of less than 40 shops in the world to sell this yarn. The designs by Olga Buraya-Kefelian are both striking and wearable. To all, have a wonderful holiday knitting season!

The past few weeks have been very busy. Almost every day new and restock yarns have arrived in our preparation for Fall! The staff has been amazing in how they have dug in and worked extra hard to get it all done. In addition we have put together a new series of Fall classes that will be instructive, fun, and result in beautiful, usable knitting projects. Our new, personalized bags have been extremely well received. New yarns include: MadelineTosh new colors and Home (we are close to carrying the whole line in PTB!); fresh colors in Malabrigo; new Berroco, including Marmot and Ultra Alpaca (light and chunky!); Regia Denim; Knit One, Crochet Too’s Sebago; Rowan’s Fur and Thick ‘n’ Thin as well as Fine Art Aran and Chenille; Koigu Lace; new Noro–truly too many new yarns to mention here!! Also, we have gained another employee-Amanda-Come in and introduce yourself! The retreat in October now has almost 50 attendees. We will continue to work hard to be Omaha’s Premiere Yarn Shop! Your Personal Threads Boutique.
